Leesa walked into my training studio about 8 weeks before her dauthers wedding looking to get into better shape for the big day. She told me about all the trainers before me and how they could not get her into the shape she wanted. I said, ‘I guarantee results Leesa.’ She laughted and said, ‘I will be the first to collect on that guarantee of yours.’ She never did collect. We worked out with weights 3 days aweek and she did the aerobic training I gave her. I also gave her nutrition and eating ideas. Each week I changed her workouts to keep it fresh and incorperated new cardio training routines to keep the fat burning going. She followed my programs and the change we were looking for began and continued. On her daughters wedding day she was feeling great and showing off her new arms to everyone. We still train together once aweek and I give her “homework” consisting of weight and cardio workouts she does on her own. She trained hard and reached her goal. I am very proud of what she accomplished and love clients like her.

‘ I worked with a trainer to get ready for my high school reunion, nothing. Worked with another trainer to get ready for my son’s wedding, nothing. Decided to give Bob a try. And to my surprise, he did what the rest could not do. He addressed all the areas I was concerned about, especially my old arms. Sleeveless and and loving it. Thanks to Bob.’ -Leesa

50 year-old Don Rygh broke the WABDL MN state bench press record in the 242lbs. class this past May with a 512 lbs. lift. We trained at The Gym in Plymouth and accomplished the goals he set. I designed the workouts and recommended some supplements to assist his. He is drug-free and pasted the test. He is currently preparing for the WABDL World Championships being held in Las Vegas on November 10th-15th. On the 31st of October, the last heavy training day for the bench, he did 535 lbs and 545 lbs. I believe he could have done 550 or 555 lbs. Don has followed my advice and has benched more than ever before.

‘ Bob has provided me with the tools needed to reach goals I never thought possible. His knowledge about proper training and supplementation for the drug-free athlete has been right-on. Without him, I would have never reached my goal of having the state record. Thanks Bob.’

Do you want better muscle tone, better muscle strength, and better general health including cardiovascular benefits and an improved state of endurance? If you are like most people and your answer is yes, strength training is the solution you have been seeking.

Resistance training and weight training are popular forms of strength training. Whichever form your personal trainer believes will be the best for you, it will do wonders to improve both the quality and the performance of your muscles, as well as promoting an overall sense of good health. When your cardiovascular system is operating at its peak potential, there is nothing that is as invigorating and exciting. Strength training can help you to see that the limits you may have placed on your body were not entirely accurate– your body is capable of doing much more and feeling great because of it.

When you gain all of these benefits from strength training, you will also have a much better self-image. There is nothing quite like feeling your absolute best and knowing that you look your absolute best, to give a wonderful and well-deserved boost to your self-esteem.

One of the most important points of strength training is that when you develop a program that works for you, as long as you stay motivated to continue your exercise program, the benefits will be long-lasting. Whether you are young or not-so-young, your personal trainer can help you with a strength training plan that will provide all of these benefits for you.

You will feel better, look better, and, best of all, the results can stay with you for the rest of your life. When you have all of this knowledge at hand, it should be easy to see that the best time to begin a strength training program to improve your health, appearance, and life, is now.

It is a well-known fact that vitamin supplements have
numerous benefits to our body especially when we take them
regularly.

Not only do they keep the body functioning properly, they
also keep us healthy so that we don’t get sick easily.

However, they can have adverse effects too if we take them
incorrectly. Below are some tips to keep us safe when
taking supplements.

Only take as indicated

- before taking vitamin supplements, we have to look at the
instructions on the box first. It is where information on
things like dosage are indicated.

If we do otherwise, we may not be able to maximize the
supplement’s effect, or worse, get overdosed.

Seek your doctor’s advice

- before taking a supplement, it would be good to seek your
doctor’s advice. This is especially the case if you are
taking other forms of medication.

Your doctor can warn you if there is a risk of adverse
effects if you take them with the supplement. The same goes
if you have special needs for a particular vitamin.

The doctor may advise higher doses of it depending on
his/her diagnosis.

Make sure it’s genuine

- although there are a good number of reliable supplements,
there are still some that are fake, ineffective or both.

Be wary of them because they may cause you more harm than
good.

In sum, vitamin supplements can be harmful to you if you
take them incorrectly. So be informed and make sure that
the one you are taking is safe.

Tracy, a 31 year-old rugby player, decided she wanted to push a bobsled for some reason or another. She asked me to get her strong, put on some muscle and trim some fat. I agreed right away, I saw the raw talent and true athlete. Besides it sounded like fun to me. We trained twice aweek and she got what she asked for, strength, muscle and lost some fat. She went to Lake Placid, NY to tryout for the US Olympic Women’s Bobsled team. Her tests for strength, speed and skill matched the #6 pusher that they carry on the roster. She was asked to come back for round two of tryouts in August or September.

We have been training three times aweek and her progress has been great. I expect her to make the team and I plan on being in Vancouver in 2010 to cheer her on. She is a dedicated athlete who is using nutrition, weights and cardio work to reach her goal of being an Olympian. What is your goal? Probably not becoming an Olympian. Maybe just looking good in a swimsuit is good enough.

Sorry it’s taken so long to get my update together. It’s 10:30 PM here at the Olympic Training Center at Lake Placid and Day One is finally over!

As some of you know, the itinerary I received prior to arrival stated that the athletes that did well during the first day of testing would be considered “US Funded Athletes” and would not have to pay for their stay at the OTC. I was informed tonight that I do not have to pay!

For me it wasn’t about the money, rather what that means related to my chances of advancing.

I ended up ranking #2 overall out of the Non-Returning Athletes, under a women who pushed in 4 American Cup Races in 2008 but decided to go back to school for the end of last season but still had to come back to re-test (she’s also my roommate and HUGE….in a good way). Contrary to what I had been told, not all the current Bobsled Pushers were here this week since they just had a camp in Park City, so we weren’t compared to them directly; however in most of the tests I ended up ranking in the 90th percentile - right up there with the big girls. So that’s definitely something positive for the coaches and drivers to consider.

OK - so you’re asking - WHAT does all this mean? It means the following:

1) Tomorrow I HAVE to lift big. It does count for points for the top two girls (which includes me) who qualified for selections today.

2) I HAVE to push the sled FAST on the track tomorrow. They are really going to pay attention to those athletes who can translate their speed and power to the push track.

3) If I do well with the above items, I will be asked back in September for the Push Competition - this is where the Drivers recruit their Pushers for the upcoming season. This push event is invite only…I still need to get the invite but I feel pretty good about it at this point.

4) If I get selected to a “team” or “driver” I will come back AGAIN in October to Test a final time with the other selected Push Athletes.

So as you can see, the selection process has changed from the original plan - but that’s how it works in Bobsled Land. Not much organization….and the rules can change at anytime so BE READY for ANYTHING!!!

Thanks everyone for your support - I could feel it all day especially after my second attempt at the 60 which TOTALLY bombed!

Wednesday’s testing has come to an end - and today I dominated!

I’m still ranked #2 overall even thought I out cleaned, out squatted and out jumped the #1 today. We will be getting timed on the push tomorrow - today we just practiced.

I feel really good - and am ready to kick some ass tomorrow.

That’s all I know for now. Hopefully tomorrow the coaches will extend me an offer to come back this summer to train and continue to compete and impress a driver.

tracy was invited back and is leaving September 7th to train and then Push the Sled two times. Yes, just two times that count. In Practice back in July during the other tests, Tracy out pushed the #1 girl. (which consisted of pushing a 600 lbs. bobsled 30 meters all by yourself.) She squated 268 for 3 reps. Power cleaned 165 one time and had a verticle of 23 inches.

Tracy has been doing everything right from the diet to resting her body between intense workouts. I fully expect her to make the team and continue to excell and exceed even her own expectations.
